So normally I do a post about a specific topic in sports but today I got an idea to try something new/different. Will it work ? Who knows we shall see. Over the weekend I was watching the Bernard Hopkins Joe Calzaghe fight and I had a few questions about what could be done to tweak some of the old stale rules to make boxing more exciting and lead to a better way to determine the winner. Then today I saw the post on nah right about what NYoil had to say about Nas’s new song and thought about people quick to claim Nas is on some gimmick tip trying to get attention and that got me thinking. Then to top it off there were a couple other statements made by people that literally made me shake my head wondering if these people were new to planet Earth. Add these things to the fact that I’m always thinking and trying to expand on ideas I decided to see if I could freak a post out of asking questions. Maybe I’d provide an answer ( of course my answer meaning my opinion, meaning truth aka fact, just kidding…. kind of, lmao ) to some, maybe I’d leave it up to any and all readers to answer in their own way, either way I figured it would be entertaining, to me at least and being that I live in my own world thats really all that matters. So without further ado heres the 21 questions that have been on mind lately.

1) What’s the difference between a gimmick and a concept ?

I mean Jay-Z released American Gangster and it was called a concept album when in reality it was just him going into character as a drug kingpin because, let’s be honest people hated on Kingdom Come and said he was out of touch, so he went back to the standard coke tales and it’s a concept album. Nas releases an album called Hip-Hop Is Dead and now is gearing up to release an album called Nigger and people everywhere are saying it’s all a gimmick to get attention. I fail to see how thats different, isn’t that exactly what a concept is ? So why is one put in a positive light and the other with a negative spin ? I find it really weird that it’s the one about being a drug kingpin that is positive but I guess that’s what you can get away with when your name is Hov. Also why is a gimmick a bad thing ? Some of my favorite songs are gimmick, take Jadakis’s WHY ? track or my boy’s Sev-One response to WHY? called THAT’S WHY ( www.zshare.net/audio/10958248adb30e56/ ) or Main-o’s Rumors ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx2l3KRfjjs ) that song is/was my jam but is it a gimmick or a concept ? Again I ask whats the difference ?

2) Who exactly are all these lil mini Jeezy’s running around ?

Today on nah right people were giving Jeezy credit for inventing the wheel, sliced bread and ad-libs. Yeah these people all recanted and said they realize he didn’t invent them but he was responsible for the over saturation of weak ad-libs, OK maybe I said the weak part. If Jeezy didn’t invent them then he got it from somewhere else right ? So wouldn’t they in turn be responsible ? I mean Jay-Z and Redman have been doing ad-libs for years as well as a gang of other people, thats where Jeezy got the idea. Just because he started over doing it doesn’t mean he re-invented hip-hop and ” changed the game ” and I don’t wanna even get started on the Lloyd Banks started punchlines that isn’t even worthy of a response other than you ever heard Lloyd’s rap father and or grandfather, Fabolous or Mase ?

3) In boxing matches why must we stick with the standard old school round for round scoring system that creates so many people seeing the same fight differently ? There are so many rounds in almost every boxing match that could go either way so how can we let that decide the outcome ? If there are 12 rounds in a boxing match and boxer A) wins 7 of the rounds but barely, really you could call the round either way but you give the slight edge to boxer A and boxer B) wins 5 rounds but dominates those 5 rounds and really puts a hurting on boxer, no knock downs but beats him bad, shouldn’t boxer B win the fight ? Shouldn’t that count for something ?

4) Sticking with boxing why can’t they find away to punish boxers for constantly grabbing and hugging the other boxer ? Whether it’s to rest or to stop the other boxer from working inside punches this has to be stopped, it slows the pace of the fight to a ridiculously slow crawl and takes the fun out of the fight. A couple times fine but as an obvious part of the strategy this can not be condoned it has to be stopped. Too expand even further on this and the last question shouldn’t we be doing more to reward the aggressor of the fight ?

I know boxing is the sweet science I know defense is a huge part of boxing but if one person just fights defensively and the other is in constant attack mode I think the one attacking should get the nod in a close fight, because after all if they weren’t attacking we wouldn’t have a fight to watch it would be more like square dancing and I know I don’t wanna see that and I don’t think you do either.

5) Why do sports writers/broadcasters over react to a single game, whether it’s one game in the NBA playoffs that now is to 100% determine the entire 7 game series or if it’s one or 2 bad games by a pitcher, perfect set up for the next question, like Johan Santana, Pedro Martinez in his prime Nolan Ryan or whatever other pitcher you wanna say was the best, never had a bad game ?

I guess thats their job, to over react, either way whether good or bad but man it gets annoying, and I hope if I can get a job as a sportswriter I never get told to do that or feel the need to get sucked into the matrix. I know sometimes it’s just a way to manufacture an article/topic but come on there has to be something else to talk about.

6) What exactly did the Yankees and all it’s fans expect from a 21 and 23 year old pitchers ? Did they really expect perfection every time and right from the jump ?

How many great pitchers have bad games ? Yeah all of them on occasion. How many pitching prospects have we seen struggle for years cause they were thrown into the fire too early only to finally turn into what everyone thought they one day could be and everyone is somehow surprised they turned it around ? I though the Yankees were supposed to be preaching patience with these young guys maybe that means they shouldn’t of been brought up so quick but they are 21 and 23 don’t bury their careers yet. Hughes has great stuff he just gets over excited at times and struggles with his command, that probably has something to do with the fact that he is 21 and pitching for the Yankees. Have I mentioned how young these guys are yet ?

7) Why do people keep blaming Tracy McGrady for not being surrounded by enough talent ?

This year is even worse because he lost the 2nd and 3rd best players on his team to injury. ( Yao and Skip ) Every playoff series he has been in he has been on the team that is expected to lose, this is just the first time he has had home court advantage for it, but if you thought they could beat the Jazz I don’t know what to tell you other than start paying closer attention or give up completely ? McGrady is a great player, yeah sometimes he defers to his teammates too much and is infected with the same disease that plagues his cousin ( Vince Carter ) but he isn’t Lebron, who is ? You can’t blame him for not being able to carry his team past superior teams all by his lonely.

8) This Saturday is one of my favorite days of the year, the NFL draft. Why is it one of my favorite days because I love to watch and see the strategy of teams in how they are building their teams, which leads to my question how do I get to be a GM ? Anyone know anyone who knows someone who can make that happen ? I swear I could do better than at least half these people and I’m sure a lot of you could as well, just not as good as me.

9) How can I get a job working for Jim Dolan ? Now I probably won’t be willing to do whatever Isiah has done to make Dolan fall in love with him but imagine having that type of job security, yeah I know he got demoted but it took about 3-4 years too long and he is still employed and getting PAID, he just isn’t allowed to have contact with any of the players, hilarity I tell you.

10) Not a new question but why are hockey and baseball players celebrated for fighting and headhunting but basketball players are thugs ?

Don’t tell me it’s the nature/violence of the game of hockey cause basketball is a really physical sport played with lots of emotion and the best players play with an edge, thats what makes them great. Now I’m sure we all know the real answer to this question is racism but I’m just wondering if anyone can offer a different plausible explanation, something tells me I won’t be getting answers on this one though

11) When will sub-par athletes learn to shut the ____ up ? Word to Deshawn Stevenson, Freddie Mitchell and Anthony Smith. If your a star/leader and you can put the team on your back than it’s one thing if your not fall back and play your role, no winning team has a role for someone to specifically run their mouth.

12) How can you not vote Chris Paul MVP ?

If you have an answer I guess you didn’t watch him this season and definitely didn’t watch game 1 against the Mavs or the first quarter of game 2, which I’m watching right now. And if you do try and answer don’t just say Kobe/Lebron bitch I want an actual answer.

13) Why can’t they figure out a way to get us more football and I don’t mean the Arena league or XFL ?

Ok so I have and idea for this but I need to get it trademarked first.

14) How in the hell did that kid Envy beat Eli Porter ?

He’s the best maaaaaaayne he did that

15) And why hasn’t someone signed Eli yet ? At least sign him to a ringtone deal ? Wait never mind forget I said that * calls trademarking/patent lawyer *

16) Why do certain ” journalists ” take things way too far ? What gave you the idea to dig up Miguel Tejada, I mean Tejeda’s, birth certificate and why stop at him ? Why don’t you dig up everyones ?

17) Wheres Jay Electronica’s Act II ? Christmas was a long time ago, right ?

I mean I’m a big fan but I think he has to drop a couple more albums before he can pull a Dre and try and detox us ?

18) Hey I just thought of something did Dre name it detox because he knew he would never drop it and we would literally have to detox from not having his music ?

19) Why exactly is Bill Cosby rapping ? Is it to prove you can do it without cursing ? We had Will Smith for that, and Bill can’t really expect this to be even kind of sort of good can he ?

20) What can be done about flopping in NBA games ? It’s really gotten disgusting, it’s an actually strategy and a big part of why the Spurs are so tough to beat they are the best at it ? In soccer they had problems with it forever, and by the way I blame soccer for infecting the NBA with this disease the influx of Europeans is what got the trend started, and they started carding players when it was a noticeable flop so can we start giving out technicals for flopping ?

21) Was this post a genius idea ? Or did it just seem silly ?
