Seriously what exactly was with that defensive game plan last night Mr. Del Rio ? Let me see if I got this right, your playing against Tom Brady and what might just be the most dangerous offense ever and your game plan is to back off, apply zero pressure and give them everything short and underneath uncontested. I’m sorry did they think Brady was a rookie who would continue to force shit deep instead of happily take the short easy passes all game long ? I understand they were worried about the big play and rightfully so ( as soon as the Jags finally blitzed Brady hit Stallworth with the Pats one big play of the game ) but it works both ways, the only way your are gonna beat the Patriots is to make them try and force things, you can’t allow them to move at will because they will be more than content with playing it safe and never making a mistake. How do you expect Brady to make mistakes on a 5 - 10 yard pass, you need to force them to try to go after the big play, live with getting beat a couple of times just know you have to make a couple big plays on defense because the Patriots aren’t gonna give the game away you need to go out there and take it from them. Offensively the Jags did what was needed, with the exception of the turnovers obviously, but once they failed to stop the Pats even once that left them too far behind and forced Garrard to play out of character and go after big plays when the Pats are ready for it. Well heres hoping the Colts can do what no one else can and with their D I fully expect the Colts to do it but thats a post for next week, for now lets go to todays games.

CHARGERS + 9 @ COLTS

Of all the games on this weekend, this is the one I don’t think I even need to watch. ( but of course I’m gonna watch it ) The COLTS D is serious right now and as long as Bob Sanders stays healthy they shouldn’t be scared of anyone. The Chargers had trouble getting L.T. going last week and won despite that, sorry no way Dungy and the Colts let Phillip Rivers beat them. The game might start out slow with both defenses making their presence know but don’t expect another 6 picks from Manning I promise he wants to erase that game from everyones mind and a W today will do just that. Yeah I know thats not much analysis but honestly this game doesn’t deserve anymore.

GIANTS + 7 1/2 @ COWBOYS

This is by far the toughest game to pick and for a number of reasons. First off is the fact that almost never do all 4 home favorites win in the divisional round and the first 2 won, I already said I’m not even worried about the Colts game and that just leaves this one, still not enough though let’s see what else is there ? O yeah the Cowboys are overrated IMO and they sure seem ripe for a beating and they have spent the last couple weeks building in their excuses in case they lose. ( T.O., Romo + Jessica x Mexico ) I damn sure don’t trust Wade Phillips to make sure everyone is on the same page and running smoothly, seriously I think the karma gods of football are gonna punish the Cowboys for T.O and others shooting off at the mouth saying dumb shit like Wade Phillips deserves all the credit for the team someone else built but the man who built it ( Parcells ) deserves none. Combine all this with T.O. being hurt and the Giants D-line playing the best they have all year it’s easy to see why a lot of people are bailing from the Cowboys bandwagon and while I am definitely off the Cowboys wagon I’m not about to jump up on the Giants, not as long as Eli is still driving it. I’m sorry people I realize Eli played the game of his life but a lot of that was because of a poor defensive game plan and even worse execution, even more of it was because of the great o-line play and the fact that Eli for the first time in his life started to effectively use the pump fake to force the opportunistic Bucs corners to jump routes early, which is a great sign for the future of Eli but if teams are ready for it, it won’t be nearly as easy. I know a lot of people seem to think last week Eli turned the corner and will become an elite QB but I think thats because you people have tricked yourself into really wanting to believe it. This guy has been in the league how long now ? How many games has he played before ? And now this far in his career he plays 100 times better than he ever has in one game and all of a sudden people think this will become the norm for him. I’m sorry but I’m pretty sure we have been through this before and because Giants fans are the most delusional fan base on earth we will be going through it again this week and even more so next year. So yes after all the reasons I stated to why I don’t like or trust the Cowboys all it took was player playing for the Giants to stray me back to picking the COWBOYS.
