Now things are about to get interesting, the scrub teams are home for the holidays ( I’m looking at YOU Jets ) and only the deserving teams are left. Yeah I know everyone is ready to admit defeat and crown the Patriots already but regardless I promise theres still plenty of good football games to look forward to, starting with the first game on Saturday.

Redskins + 3 1/2 @ Seattle

The Skins have had a long month or two but somehow they have overcome the tragic death of Shaun Taylor, managed to ignore the heart breaking last second loss to Buffalo and somehow rebound with 4 straight wins to sneak in the and steal the last NFC playoff spot. They did this despite nagging injuries all season topped off by the season ending injury to their QB Jason Campbell. But of course no one was worried when Campbell went down after all Todd Collins was the back-up and having not started a game in over a decade can only be a good thing apparently. To everyones surprise he has calmly lead the Skins to 4 straight victories however I just can’t see him pulling out the fifth. That would require him to outplay Matt Hasselbeck and I don’t see that happening. the Skins D just isn’t as dangerous without Taylor and Hasselbeck will stay spreading the field like a poor mans Tom Brady. which will of course open the running lanes up front for Muarice Morris ( Holgrem has to have given up on trusting Alexander )

The skins should be able to put up some decent points and move the ball well as the Seahawks D is not that good and can most definitely be exploited especially in the running game but still that would mean a shootout. I don’t see Hasselbeck losing a shoot out to Todd Collins call me crazy but I just don’t see it happening. Definitely not in Seattle. At the end of the day you will see why it has been a decade since Collins started and Hasselbeck continues to finally get the shine he deserves.

Jags - 2 @ Steelers

Game 2 on Saturday night should be even better. Just a couple weeks ago these 2 battled it out in a great game with the Jags coming out on top and I see no reason why it won’t happen again. The Jags bandwagon has become crowded the last couple of weeks but I’m nice and comfortable with a big spot on there cause I have been there since week 4 or 5 and see no reason to abandon ship quite yet. To make matters worse the Steelers have injured players littered throughout their team and while I do expect a couple big plays from Big Ben as the Jags secondary, while having played much better lately, can be beat, I can’t see them running the ball effectively especially without Fast Willie Parker. Of course the Jags I expect to have plenty of success running the ball it doesn’t matter what D you throw out there those 2 RB’s are dangerous and the Steelers run D has been slipping the last couple of weeks, not a good time to play the Jags. David Garrard will as usual manage a great game and make a big play or 4 on his own while he caches the D cheating to play the run. No way the Steelers can hang with that all day.
