NFL Week 16 Picks
Dec 21, 2007 Author: tyronebiggums | Filed under: FootballThe season is almost over and now is the best time to start making bets. Now you have a true idea as to how good all the teams are and you can make good educated guesses as to who will win and by how much. The only tricky part at this time of year is compensating for teams that have their playoff spots locked up and have no real motivation to play, as well as trying to guess if people are happy with their playoff spots or if they wanna risk injury to better their spots. However like I said this is by far the best time for betting ( and probably the wild card weekend ) so take a look at my picks down below and if you want some extra cash to treat yourself this Christmas call a bookie ( of course I mean go to Vegas ) and tell him to check out New Jersey Drive and those will be your picks, you can thank me later and trust I will be waiting for it.
( Note : I picked this game yesterday but couldn’t get the image to post yesterday so I had to wait to figure it out today and I’m not going back and erasing it, plus I won the bet easily last night so you know I had to keep it up there )
Steelers - 7 1/2 over RAMS - The Rams have been playing much better lately but they are still pretty bad overall and well the Steelers need this game now that they are tied for the division with the Browns. The Rams best weapon is still easily Steven Jackson but the Steelers don’t allow people to run on them, they only allow 83.4 yards a game on the ground and unless they can get at least 150 yards out of Jackson they won’t have a shot. If you expect the Rams to make it up through the air, you must not having been watching them much this year, cause Bulger hasn’t had much luck all year and the Steelers will be blitzing from any and all angles and confusing the hell out of poor Bulger. Now when the Steelers have the ball they will look to impose their will on the Rams D and shouldn’t have much problem, The Steelers average almost 140 yards a game rushing and will make sure they establish the run game early and often and mix in their shots deep down field to take an early lead and ride it out to a relatively easy and boring win tonight.
BILLS + 3 over Giants - I’ve been trying to tell everyone just how bad the Giants are, now people are finally starting to see what I’ve been saying since the season started, the Giants suck. Ok so maybe the Giants are just below average and it’s Eli that sucks either way this team will never go anywhere with Eli, dude has zero confidence, pouts every time he makes a bad play ( which is every play ) and definitely doesn’t have the backing of his teammates any more. The Bills on the other hand have played really strong the second half of the season ( with the exception of last week ) and will be looking to finish this year on a really strong note at home. Plus they will have the extra boost from TE Kevin Everret ( their TE who was almost paralyzed in week 1 ) who will be in attendance and is making great progress, combine this with the terrible weather that is expected for Sunday in Buffalo and Brandon Jacobs hamstring bothering him and I just see no hope for the G-men. Marshawn Lynch however should put on a clinic against the Giants D.
Browns - 3 over BENGALS - To be honest part of me expects the Bengals to win this game, just cause it wouldn’t make much sense. The Bengals seem to have all ready packed it up and are ready for a second straight season with no playoffs and after watching them lose to the 49ers why should I believe they can beat anyone let alone the high powered offense of the Browns. Carson Palmer has been a great big disappointment this year ( especially if you have him on 2 fantasy teams and have made it to the finals in each of them DESPITE not because of Palmer ) as has Chad Johnson and Rudi Johnson, Housh has been a surprise as he has shown he is the best receiver on the team and the Bengals offense is still very dangerous if I had confidence that they had enough heart to win a shoot out, but I don’t. If the Browns score more than 30 ( which I fully expect ) than look for the Bengals to mail it in the rest of the way as this team isn’t exactly going all out anymore…Marvin Lewis what exactly happened to that team from 2 years ago ?
Packers - 8 1/2 over BEARS - What makes me think the Packers will cover so easily ? 2 words, Kyle Orton. Seriously what the hell where the Bears thinking not trying to upgrade at least their back up QB’s last off season ? They really expected Grosman to step it up ? Did they watch him last year ? Anyone who really thought Brian Griese was the answer, stop watching football you clearly don’t get the objective of the game. Thanks to Jessica Simpson cursing the Cowboys last week ( I’m kidding of course but I’m shocked at how many people are saying this seriously, T.O. I’m looking at your dumb ass ) the Packers are tied for the best record in the NFC and with Romo’s thumb still a bit sore the game against the Panthers this week is no lock and the Farve’s still have a shot at home field through out the playoffs, theres no way they blow that opportunity against a team and a QB as bad as they are facing.
SEAHAWKS - NO LINE over Ravens - No line ? huh ? I just looked at this and I have no clue why it’s no line, maybe cause of an injury but besides Boller I can’t think of anyone of importance being hurt and I don’t care enough cause unless it’s Hasselbeck( please be Hasselbeck I got to face him in one of my fantasy championships this week) If Boller is hurt than that means Troy Smith will be the starting QB, I think it’s safe to say I’m rolling with the Hawks on this one.
Bucs - 6 over 49ERS - Why ? Well because the Bucs aren’t the Bengals and the 49ers are in fact the 49ers. Garcia or no Garcia doesn’t matter Tampa Bay could win this if they didn’t even send their offense on the field, the Bucs D will probably out score the 49ers offense so Gruden sit Garcia make sure he is healthy for the playoffs so that my prediction of a Tampa Bay super bowl appearance isn’t shot.
CHARGERS - 8 1/2 over Broncos - The only worry here is that the Chargers have nothing to play for and might choose to rest people, but even if they rest L.T. and Turner, Darren Sproles sure showed he could get the job done especially against a run D as bad as the Broncos ( they allow 140 yd’s per game ) I still hate Phillip Rivers but fortunitly for the Chargers he won’t have to do much here as I expect the Chargers rushing game and D to give them a big lead, I just hope they can hold them off in garbage time, if you can tease bets make a move to knock this down to like a 5 point spread and you should have no worries.
